I met with Thomas Wenning and his ultra running girlfriend Claudia Weber tonight for some pints of Guinness in Ireland's oldest pub the "Brazen Head" est. 1198. ad.!They told me they ran 50 races of a marathon or over last year.
This time they ran from Malin Head to Mizen Head adding on an extra 30km (630km instead of 600km) onto an already hilly course for a more scenic route to finish in 6 days 8 hours and 17 minutes. Claudia is claiming the women's record despite getting a foot injury after 4 days. She ran through the pain barrier for over 2 days slugged it out to the finish. Well done! The Guinness in that old Irish pub I mean. Oh the run across Ireland sounds fun too. Congrats to them both, and especially to Claudia for her record run in spite of the injury.
